ROMA 1960 MUSEUM > DOCUMENTI CARTACEI

At the end of 1959, the Olympic Identity Card was approved. The first thought of the Organising Committee was to obtain from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Ministry of the Interior recognition of this Olympic document as a normal passport and as a firearms licence for shooting sports. The Olympic Identity Card was printed on "papertex" produced by Snia-Viscosa. The document, which had four pages in addition to the front page, contained on the first page the photograph of the holder, on the second page his full personal details and on the third and fourth pages the validation of the Olympic Committee and the authorities of the holder's country of origin. In addition, the ID cards were provided with cases in six different colours, which were handed out only when the Olympic ID card was validated. The Identity Cards were valid from 1 June to 30 September 1960.
